Fondital obtains EPD certification for die-cast aluminium radiators

A new milestone in its sustainability journey

For the first time in the die-cast aluminium radiator sector, Fondital is making an environmental declaration verified by an independent third party available to the market, in accordance with international standards.

Sustainability is a journey built on innovation, responsibility and, above all, transparency.

For this reason, in 2025 Fondital launched an important environmental analysis project of its products, with the aim of scientifically measuring the impacts generated along their life cycle.

The project ended in July 2026 with the achievement of the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for die-cast aluminium hydronic and electric radiators, in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804.

The Environmental Product Declaration has been verified by an independent body and published within The International EPD System, one of the main international programs dedicated to the dissemination of environmental product information.

This result represents an important step forward in Fondital's sustainability journey and a new tool for dialogue with the market: for the first time in the die-cast aluminium radiator sector, a manufacturer is making a third-party verified EPD available.

What is an EPD?
[ RETURN TO INDEX ]

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a Type III environmental product declaration in accordance with ISO 14025.

It is neither an environmental label nor a simple company statement: it is based on a scientific Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study and provides objective, transparent and verifiable environmental information.

An EPD does not establish whether one product is "more sustainable" than another. Instead, it provides measurable and comparable data on the environmental impacts of the product during its life cycle.

The LCA study underpinning the EPD analyzes the life cycle of Fondital radiators considering several phases:

  • supply of raw materials;
  • transportation;
  • Manufacturing process;
  • end-of-life scenarios;
  • benefits arising from material recovery.

The analysis follows a "cradle to grave" approach, evaluating multiple environmental indicators and not just CO₂ emissions.

This provides a comprehensive view of the product's environmental performance and helps identify any areas for improvement as part of a continuous improvement approach.

A new development in the aluminium radiator sector
RETURN TO INDEX ]

In recent years, the HVAC sector has shown growing interest in tools capable of providing verifiable environmental information.

Several European manufacturers have already obtained EPDs for steel radiators.

Fondital, on the other hand, represents a novelty on the international scene:  it is the first manufacturer in the sector to obtain an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for die-cast aluminum radiators.

A result that enhances the manufacturing technology of die-cast aluminum and confirms the company's commitment to developing solutions increasingly focused on transparency and innovation.

Value for designers, customers and stakeholders
RETURN TO INDEX ]

The availability of verified environmental data is becoming increasingly important in the construction and in sustainable design.

An EPD can support:

  • designers and architects in the evaluation of products;
  • companies involved in sustainable projects;
  • customers looking for reliable environmental information;
  • stakeholders interested in communication based on objective data.

In particular, the information contained in an EPD can contribute to building environmental assessment processes and to design project requiring certified data.

Obtaining the EPD confirms Fondital’s commitment to greater environmental transparency and to an increasingly conscious approach to managing the impacts of its products.

A result that reinforces the values at the basis of the company's identity: transparency, innovation, credibility and continuous improvement.

For Fondital, sustainability also means measuring, analysing and communicating responsibly.

Today, the EPD represents a new tool for doing so.
