ESG: what it means and why it matters

The term ESG stands for Environmental, Social, Governance and represents the three pillars of corporate sustainability:

• E = Environment: reduction of emissions, responsible use of resources, circular economy.
• S = Social: attention to people, safety, training, support to communities.
• G = Governance: transparency, ethics and responsible management.

Like many other companies, Fondital also chooses to communicate its ESG actions because this improves customer trust, strengthens reputation and offers a competitive advantage in international markets.

 

What is EcoVadis and how does it work

Among the tools that allow companies to measure and communicate the results achieved in the ESG field, we find EcoVadis.

An international platform for voluntary sustainability assessment, EcoVadis evaluates over 130,000 companies in 200 sectors and 175 countries every year, measuring the Environmental, Social, Governance performance of companies that decide to voluntarily undergo this assessment. Among the motivations that drive companies is the growing demand from more and more customers and partners for transparency on suppliers' sustainability practices.

But that's not all: the EcoVadis assessment is a useful tool for improving ESG performance on an ongoing basis. The EcoVadis methodology is based on international standards and analyzes four main areas: environment, labor practices and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

In addition to acknowledgements and regulatory accreditations,both mandatory and voluntary, Fondital has also chosen to undergo the independent assessment of EcoVadis, the international platform that measures the sustainability performance of companies.

For the second year in a row, Fondital has been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Rating. The first award came in June 2024 and now, in 2025, Fondital proudly confirms the result.

With increasingly rigorous evaluation criteria and an increasingly competitive panel of companies, Fondital has not only reconfirmed the EcoVadis Silver Rating, but has also also improved its overall score. This result demonstrates consistency, continuity and a concrete commitment to ESG practices.
